The Seekers

The 2018-2019 Starr Reading Series

APRIL 22: THE SEEKERS by Jeesun Choi
Ilhan Yusuuf Warsame, a Somali high school student living in Minneapolis, is at the loneliest point in her life when she starts having visions. People on the fringes of Europe, Arctic circle and urban landscapes populate her consciousness, drawing her into this forgotten world that exists just beyond reality. What happens when people, who feel the most alone on earth, find others?

Are We There Yet? (Poems and Prophecies for Defiant Pawns)

Text by Blake Sugarman
Music & Performances by Blake Sugarman & Tyler Stahl
Directed by Bryn Herdrich

Are We There Yet? combines playful storytelling, rigorous research, and the raw expressivity of roots music to explore the gap between what we truly value and what “the market” encourages. It is equal parts concert, personal narrative, and Groucho Marxist manifesto about robots and dreams.

Tuesday April 9th, 6:30pm @ The Bitter End

Variations on the Main

As the final show at JACK’s current location, the audience and performer will collectively strip the space of its contents over the course of the three-week run. Through this process of emptying, the team will strive to clear the air of distractions and ask us to help each other and take care of our brains in the most theatrical of ways.
From the artists: "We will try and fail and try again and ask for a commitment to our fellow humans sharing our air. Not a self-help cult...not a thing...just some floorboards and some real time."
